NEW Full-Length Paradox Album
I'm releasing my first full-length album in six years!
Hello good people,
I’m finishing up my fourth solo album and want you to be a part of the journey. This is my first full-length release in quite some time and since I dropped “Mending,” with DJ Sean P, back in 2011, a lot has happened. My wife, my daughter, Murphy, and I moved from Austin to Denver. I got a job at the high school I graduated from and have been teaching there for the last 7 years. We had our second daughter, Norah, who just turned 6 in June. And my wife, Meghan, became the Executive Director of an amazing school where typically-developing children and children with special needs learn side-by-side.
While all of these things have made finding time to create new music challenging, they’ve also provided a whole range of experiences to draw from and write about, which is reflected in the project I’m making available for pre-order through this PledgeMusic campaign. Every song on the album is produced, mixed, and mastered by Cambridge, UK-based beat-maker heavyweight, Imperial of Illect Recordings, whose sonic backdrops serve as the perfect complement to my musings on topics like parenting, race, gender, addiction, faith, love, loss, and hope. As with my past releases, the project features a whole slew of incredible guest artists who lend their talents rapping, singing, and, this time around, even adding live instrumentation throughout.
As a pledger, you’ll be granted exclusive access to the creative process along the way, including a first peek at and an opportunity to weigh in on things like the tracklisting, the album artwork, and what songs might be good candidates for video treatments. On the campaign page you’ll find a number of ways you can partner with me in this effort and I’m excited to have you be a part of what Imperial and I have created together.
It's ironic that so many producers are trying to make music you can fall asleep to, right? Literally working to get slept on.
